Accessibility Statement

Atid EDI is committed to ensuring that its website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our site and to comply with applicable standards.

1. Conformance Status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for all people.

2. Accessibility Features

Skip to Main Content

A "Skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every page. It is visually hidden until focused, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass the navigation and jump directly to the page's main content. Activate it by pressing Tab when a page first loads.

Accessibility Panel

A floating accessibility button (♿) is available at the bottom-left corner of every page. It can be opened with the keyboard shortcut Alt+A from anywhere on the site.

The panel provides the following options:

  • Text size: Three levels — Normal, Large (112.5%), Extra Large (125%)
  • High Contrast: Increases contrast between text and background
  • Grayscale: Removes colour from the page for users with colour blindness
  • Underline Links: Adds underlines to all links for easier identification
  • Readable Font: Switches to Arial/Tahoma for improved legibility

Your chosen settings are saved in your browser and restored on your next visit.

Keyboard Navigation

The full website can be operated using a keyboard alone:

  • Tab / Shift+Tab: Move between interactive elements
  • Enter / Space: Activate buttons and links
  • Arrow keys (↑↓): Navigate within the accessibility panel
  • Escape: Close the accessibility panel or any open modal
  • Alt+A: Open or close the accessibility panel from anywhere

Focus Visibility

All focusable elements — links, buttons, form fields — display a visible gold focus ring when focused via keyboard, meeting WCAG 2.4.7 (Focus Visible).

Navigation Structure

The site uses a consistent navigation bar on every page with dropdown menus for sub-sections. Dropdown menus activate on hover (mouse) and are also reachable by keyboard via Tab navigation.

Semantic HTML

Pages are built with:

  • A logical heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3) on every page
  • Landmark roles: nav, main, footer, aside
  • ARIA attributes: aria-label, aria-expanded, aria-controls, aria-pressed, aria-modal where appropriate
  • Descriptive alt text on all meaningful images

Text and Colour

  • Body text uses a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background (WCAG AA)
  • Interactive elements (buttons, links) use a minimum contrast ratio of 3:1
  • Text can be resized up to 200% using browser zoom without loss of content or functionality

Responsive Design

The website is fully responsive and works on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices. Content reflows appropriately at all viewport sizes without requiring horizontal scrolling.

3. Known Limitations

We are aware of the following accessibility limitations and are working to address them:

  • Archived PDFs and newsletters (Fortnightly reports, IBG Newsletter, American Trade Newsletter): Some older documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers. Original documents are hosted on the legacy website.
  • Navigation dropdown menus: Currently activate on mouse hover. Keyboard users can access sub-pages via Tab navigation. We are working on improved keyboard interaction for dropdown menus.
  • Embedded Google Maps (Contact page): The embedded map may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. The office address is also provided as plain text.

4. Technical Specifications

The accessibility features of this website rely on the following technologies:

  • WAI-ARIA 1.1

The website has been tested with the following assistive technologies:

  • Keyboard-only navigation (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
  • NVDA screen reader (Windows)
  • VoiceOver (macOS, iOS)
